Sonia M. Greenhagen, Fractional HR Manager SMG HR

As a Human Resources (HR) leader for over 30 years, I believe that people, and not policies, are what make an organization successful. Employees are the heart of every business. Having a people-focused style that drives results, strengthens workplace culture and improves turnover is my guiding ethos to ensure a business’s success.

After completing my Bachelor’s Degree in Organizational Psychology, I began my career working as a Personnel Officer for the State of Connecticut where I wrote the State’s Telecommuting Program, created the Automated Personnel System and placed Norwich Hospital employees when it closed. My HR experience has spanned a variety of industries, allowing me to have perspectives in both public and private sectors.

I am no stranger to corporate restructuring and understand the pain of staff layoffs. I have witnessed the stigma of temporary work and unemployment, fueling my passion for pioneering employee retention and recognition programs. Decades of observing disgruntled employees working for inept managers in toxic environments compelled me to offer my services to companies who want to level up their game; thus, SMG.HR Consulting was born.
